Situated in the borough of Tower Hamlets, SIA design build created an open plan space capitalizing on sweeping city views from all three social zones while efficiently transforming a 5 year old compartmentalized shared ownership new-build flat.
The 8 week project scope included the reintegration of 6 m2 of corridor to create an exciting reconfigured living space and open plan kitchen with a basin / prep / herb area facing south towards the Thames River. The cooking peninsula facing the lounge and dining zone worked perfectly for entertaining yet the raised cabinets in the lounge provided storage and a backsplash to the induction hob that hid any kitchen clutter from view.

Throughout the construction phase SIA design build was able to propose and execute innovative and efficient ways to realize this new space in a cost effective yet design focused manner. The material palette of: porcelain tiles, cold rolled steel, rough sawn oak, and quartz created a modern yet inviting contemporary space with great attention to function and form.

The concept aimed to juxtapose warm and cold materials in a sculptural way that ensured the home would remain inviting yet functional.
Porcelain tiles deliver the underfloor heating efficiently and make cleaning and plant maintenance easy while rough sawn oak create depth, warmth, and texture throughout the space.

Early morning views as seen from the dining table or lounge about to reflect the light back into the space as the sun reflects off the glass towers of central London.
